Appointments

If you decide that you might be interested in making an appointment, the first step is to book a consultation or you can call us at (516) 614-5334. After a short consultation with an intake specialist to discuss your specific needs and goals for therapy and whether Triangle Cognitive Therapy is a good working match for you.

If you would like to move forward with us, we will need you to complete several informational documents that will be available to you through a confidential portal.  If necessary, one of our intake specialists will help you with this process.

Once completed and your insurance information is verified, you are ready to go.  We will reach out to you to discuss a good therapist match based on your needs.

Fees and Payment

Our fees are comparable to other therapists in the area, if you are not using your health insurance. Fees are not negotiable. It is expected that a payment is made at the time service is rendered.  Payment can be made with cash, check, or credit card. All clients, regardless of your payment choice, are asked to keep a credit card on file prior to intake.

A 3.6% surcharge will be added to all credit card payments.

Insurance

Prior to your first appointment, our insurance coordinator will verify your plan and email you with your copay amount or expected financial responsibility.

Triangle Cognitive Therapy is currently a participating provider

for the following insurance plans:

Out-of-network: Based on our group's licensing and experience, our services are covered if your plan offers reimbursement for out-of-network providers. Insurance plans are all very different so the amount that may be reimbursed varies. Our intake specialist can speak to you about how we can work with your specific plan. Out-of-network claims will be submitted for you, if your insurance company allows.  Reimbursement may be sent to you directly or to the practice. Please contact your insurance provider prior to your first appointment for more information about your specific plan.

Getting help in between sessions

The therapists at Triangle Cognitive Therapy strive to be consistent support for their clients.  We encourage you to feel comfortable contacting us in between sessions if there is a problem that emerges.  However, we can’t always be available and will generally try to respond to all inquiries within 24 hours.

If you are looking to speak to your therapist, please call their direct extension or email them directly.  Leaving a message in our general mailbox or responding to our emailed appointment reminders will delay their receipt of your inquiry.

If you are in crisis or you have an emergency that requires immediate help, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.

Additionally you can access free crisis counseling at the following:

  • Long Island Crisis Center (licconline.org) at 516‑679‑1111.  A caring counselor will listen, support you, and help you figure out next steps, 24 hours a day.

  • Nassau County Behavioral Health Helpline at 516‑227‑TALK (8255) available during business hours:

  • Call or text 988 any time, day or night, to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. A trained counselor will listen without judgment, help you stay safe, and connect you with local resources when you need them.

Virtual/Online/Phone sessions

Although we believe that face-to-face sessions are the most productive, if you are unable to get to the office, we will offer sessions through confidential video or phone.  We are offering this option to our adult and young adult clients only.  Online sessions require a stronger need for focus and can be difficult for children and adolescents to get the full benefit of therapy using this platform.  Regular session fees will apply.

Privacy and Confidentiality

Almost everything that is discussed in session is private and confidential.  There are a few exceptions to this rule that require us to report to appropriate authorities and those who may be affected.

  • Suspected child abuse or elder abuse

  • Threats to commit serious bodily harm to another person/s

  • Threats to commit serious self-harm or suicide.

Cancellations

All cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.  Any appointments that are cancelled within the 24-hour period will need to be rescheduled within the week, or there will be a charge of $100 for a missed session.  Insurance cannot be billed for missed sessions.
